English Muffins by Alton Brown
English Muffins
Makes approx 8 muffins
Gluten Free Adaptation from Alton Browns recipe
- 1/2c nonfat Powdered Milk
- 1 Tablespoon sugar
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1c hot Water
- 1 Envelope dry yeast
- 1/8 teaspoon sugar
- 1/3c Warm Water
- 2c Bell GF Flour Mix
- Combine: Milk, sugar, 1/2 teaspoon salt, shortening, hot water.
- Stir tunil sugar and salt dissolve and let cool
- Next Bowl: combine yeast, 1/8 teaspoon sugar, 1/3 cup warm water.
- Once yeast has proofed, add to milk mixture.
- Add milk mixture to flour.
- Mix well. Cover and let rest in warm spot for 30 minutes.
- Preheat Griddle to 300 degrees.
- Add remaining 1/2 teaspoon salt to batter
- Place metal rings on griddle and spary with nonstick spray
- Using an ice cream scoop, place one scoop in eah ring.
- Cover with a pot lid or cookie sheet.
- Cook for 5-6 minutes.
- Flip over and cook for another 5-6 minutes.
- Place on cooling rack and remove rings.
